This blog has been set up as a means for our dear friend, Angela, to journal her thoughts as she fights cancer and also a way to keep all of her friends and family up to speed on how things are going. By creating this communication vehicle, hopefully she can focus on keeping herself in strong fighting mode without having to worry about making sure she keeps everyone informed.

Warn Grant ahead of time.
You might enjoy this story, which is true. In 1951 while traveling to Germany on a troop ship many of my fellow G.I.s became sea sick. This condition was compounded by the food served and the metal trays it was served on, they never quite got those things clean. I was not affected by the sea sickness but the greasy tray did me in. On the ship I was on the latrine,(pooping place) was located in the most forward part of the ship, the bow. Visiting the place was the experience of a lifetime. The facility consisted of two long rows of toilet seats located over a trough that drained into a large pipe. There must have been over a hundred seats on each side of the wall, you sat elbow to elbow with your fellow sufferers.
It was in November and the weather was bad causing the bow to rise high and then crash down, so as the ship rose and fell so too the sewage sloshed forward and backward causing everyone to have to rise up off their seat in order to avoid being sprayed by the rushing flotsam. It reminded me of sychronized dancing as the bow went up those in front got to sit back down while those seated toward the middle of the boat had to pop up.It was a rather undignified experience but one that gives us a realistic perspective on the human condition. pat (mag does not join in this, it is offensive even by proxy)
Hi Angie - It's Kathy P from high school again :) I don't have your email, so can't drop you a note directly. Kind of hilarious that I write you & wish you the merriest & happiest of Christmases on this particular post! LOL! But I'm so grateful I found you (or at least, e-found you) again, and you're in my prayers & my heart this Christmas! Congratulations on your amazing strength & courage, and thank you for sharing your journey -- I'm very, very proud of you! You are an awesome woman, and your kids are so blessed to have you for their mom. Merry Christmas!!
Merry Merry Christmas. What a year you have had. It would take one hundred to equal it. The gift you have given so many this year is to be reminded of the depth of human strength and courage through your example. You make us all a little stronger, wiser and always happier for knowing you. Bless you girl. Love Jane
wow, uh, yeah . . . you clearly still have your sense of humor!
